Every service follows the same clear process, so you always know what to expect. Here’s an everyday trip, start to finish.

The care is part of the trip — not an upcharge.
Three things come standard on every ground transport. Anything extra is quoted up front, when you book.
- Door-Through-DoorWe come inside to get you and walk you inside at the other end — never curb to curb.
- A Companion Rides FREEOne family member, companion, or caregiver always travels at no extra charge.
- Securement on Every TransportFour-point tie-downs and a securement-certified Transportation Specialist come standard.
The first companion always travels free; a second person is $25 each way.
Add wait time to your ride. Your Transportation Specialist stays nearby and takes you home when you're done. Additional charges apply, subject to availability.
We don’t provide oxygen. Clients need to bring their own tank or borrow one from their facility. Please tell us the tank size when you book. If we need to return a borrowed tank to the facility, the ride is booked as a round trip.
Our portable ramp covers up to 4 steps. For more than four, we’ll look for an accessible entrance, and if there isn’t one, we may ask the local fire department for a lift assist. Please tell us about any steps when you book so there are no surprises on the day. See how we handle steps.

Available for transfers that need an extra set of hands, depending on availability. Extra charges apply.

Excellent transportation company. Ordered them last minute and they were able to accommodate our last minute doctor appointment. Then another driver waited after dropping off customer knowing we were his next transportation people. No waiting after our appointment which was a God sent as my sister was in pain and needed to get back ASAP.
Rainbow road was a life saver! From the first interaction with customer service over the phone to drop off, they made everything very smooth and were great about accommodating a very last minute need for transport for my mother. The rep on the phone was great at answering all of our questions and was able to assist us quickly with booking our ride. Great service for elder care and excellent communication every step of the way!
This company is really great for last minute accommodations which is what I needed. They came on time the 2 gentlemen that picked me up from hospital after total hip replacement. They were very caring and really nice it was the most pleasant and comfortable 31 min drive. You get regular updates on were they are the time there coming even phone calls to confirm everything so there was no confusion. It was a very pleasant transportation. I would give 10 stars if I could.

The driver came right to my door, held doors open for me, and assisted me in every way. His vehicle was spotless, no odor, ran extremely smooth (a great benefit for someone like me with chronic pain), and was easy to spot. Eric, the driver, was kind, compassionate, personable, respectful and a great conversationalist/communicator. He was well also clean, well kept and attentive. I used your service on August 3, 2025 at 4:45 P.M. I wanted transport to the hospital my physicians are at, not the closest hospital. My Lady who is a retired OR nurse of 44 years at LaGrange Hospital looked for a reasonably priced transport service. Yours is most reasonable. She found you have a 5 star rating, which of course being the internet is nice but you never really know. Now we do know. You earned every bit of those 5 stars and another 5 if I could. Randy and Mark came on time, got me securely and safely out of the chair, out of my house, down my stairs and into the vehicle. The vehicle had all new looking equipment, spotless clean, and very modern and up to date. Randy made me feel safe, and Mark right there with him. I felt safe. And Mark gave a good conversation on the ride which made a bad situation much more comforting. They are great. I cannot say enough good things about these two men and your company. I am retired now, but I was in sales, and I would have loved to sell your services to all the hospitals and healthcare facilities in the area. It would be such an easy sell, and point of pride. The rehab place I’m staying at arranged transport for me with Rainbow Road. What a wonderful arrangement that was. I was contacted to confirm the arrangement, was advised when the driver was on his way and when he arrived. When my appointment with the doctor was over I contacted them again and the driver was dispatched. Again I was notified of all that was happening. The driver was Lorenzo and he was marvelous. When wheeling me from the building into the van he made me aware of each bump and ramp the chair was encountering so I wouldn’t be concerned. He got me into the doctor’s office reception area so I was all set. He picked me up when the appointment was over and his actions were the same as the first ride. He is a great asset for Rainbow Road. For my next trip I contacted Rainbow Road again and requested Lorenzo. The service provided was as good as previous. I would recommend Rainbow Road to anyone needing medical transportation and if you’re lucky enough, you may get Lorenzo as your driver.
Rainbow Road Transport is excellent. The professionalism in customer care is something of short supply lately but NOT with Rainbow Road. The customer care is outstanding. We were informed of everything, down to every last detail. There were no surprises, just unbelievable care and compassion for the patient. I cannot praise this company enough. We used the wheelchair to stretcher and couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Rainbow Road for making a very hard situation seamless.

Recurring transportation (like dialysis) can be scheduled weeks out, and we do our best to accommodate same-day and discharge requests — just call dispatch.
Private pay by debit or credit card, with a card on file to confirm the booking; facilities can be set up on monthly invoicing.
We don’t bill insurance directly — if you have non-emergency medical transportation coverage, call your plan and we’ll help you check it.
Yes — most of our calls come from family members and care teams. Tell us who the transport is for and any mobility needs, and a companion is always welcome to ride along at no extra charge.
Tell us about any steps when you book. For homes with four steps or fewer, we bring a portable ramp. For more than four, your safety comes first: we’ll look for an accessible entrance, and if there isn’t one, we may ask the local fire department for a lift assist. We’ll talk it through with you before the trip, so there are no surprises on the day.
Yes — hospitals, skilled-nursing and rehab facilities, and the case managers, social workers, and discharge planners who coordinate transport. Discharge-friendly scheduling and monthly facility invoicing keep things simple.
Call (847) 585-8888. Rescheduling to a new date carries no cancellation fee, as long as the driver is not yet en route and pickup is more than an hour away. Cancelling without rescheduling is free more than 24 hours before pickup; inside 24 hours a fee applies, and a no-show without cancellation is charged in full.
